You can contact either of the 2 senators of your state. But need to contact representative corresponding to your district.
But understand that, just because you contact a congressman doesn't mean you miraculously would get your GC. its going to be a long process. Add 3-4 months from the day you contact if the congressional liaison pulls your case for review. If there is a problem with your case they would inform you about it after they review. Note congressman's office cannot tell a federal agency(CIS) what they need to do, they can only inquire on your behalf whats causing the delay. Nothing to do with who is how much powerful.

I changed jobs after 5.5 years on my H1-B. When the new company filed for H1-transfer i got approval for 3 years based on the I-140 from the previous employer. In this case there was no need to apply for extension, while transferring the visa, I got 3 years. Send I-140 and Perm copies along with the H1-Transfer

Before this thread spirals into a controversial discussion, I'd like to clarify that some members may be desperate to see the results but they have to understand that it will take time. Does arrest for driving with suspended license (License suspended for non payment of ticket) come under traffic violation? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Please do not hurt any ones feelings and sentiments (think about your self in that situation and then answer.
People come to IV because they think that there are some good people who would suggest and help.
And please remember one thing, if you are in a hurry and dont have time. you would not think about browing or searching, but post your quesiton. And who knows he might have even done his browsing and asking for experts opinion.
And IV is an org and it at their wish and will of individual whether to contribute or not.
so please do not force any one.

A friend of mine, with similar credentials like yours (from what i can get from your post) got his GC thru EB2-NIW. He didn't have to go through lengthy labor process. His lawyer recommended against filing for EB-1. Please contact a lawyer and hope for the best

People have started saying they would be happy to get GC in 5-10 years.
I think we deserve a little more than 5-10 yrs for our GC after having lived most of our professional lives in US....paid taxes...applied for PR....and followed the law of the land...Dont let ur head drop just because u r an imigrant....everyone of the US citizens and even those in Congress are desecndants of immigrants...REMEMBER that.

This is a hard call. I would probably wait for the EAD before deciding which one to cancel. you might be canceling one that is about to send you your EAD. It is risky.

To be able to file EB2 the position has to belong to O*net zone 5. For instance if you are an engineer, open the link http://online.onetcenter.org/find/result?s=engineer&g=Go and click over the engineering that mostly suits you. If that position is job zone 4 then it is EB3 if it is job zone 5 then it is EB2. Then you have to check the salary for the area where you work, if your basic salary is superior to the minimum (level 1) of the position then you are fine.
Though I don't know anything about the zone 5 requirement, judging by the vast majority of H1b jobs there are, very few are qualified zone 5. Thus there would have been very few EB2 filing (PERM or the other)
This is not evidenced by what I have seen on many forums, or people that I know that filed for EB2 and then had it approved.

The date in 'Receipt Date' field on your 485 form is the start date of your 90 days calculation.

I respectfully disagree. As you all know, the USCIS (online and phone) system is completely different from Infopass. What appears on the former is usually inaccurate. I know this because both my wife and I have received our GC but our online I-140 is still pending.
I am adament about this because I moved in Jan 08 and submitted AR-11. In July 08, my wife online status shows that a RFE was sent. We waited anxiously for 2 months for this letter. Then we went to Infopass and found out that they still have the old address. By the way, my address was updated. Few days after Infopass, the letter finally came. It was enclosed in another envelope (because the orginal bounced and USCIS resent to new address).
I think everyone should use Infopass frequently. Use it to check if your name check and biometric are cleared. Asked if there's any flag. Where your case is physically and of course your current address. I go to the Boston office all the time and it is usually empty in the morning. Whether the Infopass office is packed or empty has nothing to do with when you'll get your GC; there's 6 counters and I doubt they'll increase it if there're more people.

My company want to book me on flight and comanty sponsored cruise. Cruise leaves on Feb 27th. I am afraid it I will have AP then. Company need some confirmation of getting it as they will lose money.
I called USCIS and placed request to Expedite based on catagory 1 (financial loss to employer or individual). I was told that I will hear somehting in 5 days?
Should I contact local congressman and place request through them? How does the procedure go? I have no clue. I have taken infopass appointment at local USCIS for next week but I know that will be waste of time.
Any suggestions?

If ur EB2 and PD older than Jan 01, 2004 probably you have chance to refile again. During this crunch time don't trust USPS/UPS. Always use fedex...

Can anyone confirm that only Driver License is required for this cruise? NCL told me so, but I�d like to hear from someone who already sailed. Also, do you have to go through Customs or Immigration upon returning? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
